Lionism started in Malaysia when the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Host was chartered on 18/2/1959.
Here is a short write-up on the growth and expansion of Lions clubs since Lionism was introduced from 1959 to 1979.

The late PDG Dr. Foo Look Lam was one of my inspiring district governors (1978-79). We traveled together as a team when I was appointed District Chairman for Anti-Drug Abuse (fy 1976-1977). We conducted seminars on the topic of the dangers of drug abuse in several factories in Penang and Butterworth. As usual, the participants were always captivated by his jokes related to drugs.
