In my youth, I had a passion for stamp collecting. It began during my school days, but I made the mistake of not properly storing my stamp album. One day, I discovered that white ants had consumed most of the stamps, leaving behind only a trail of dust. Devastated, I had no choice but to dispose of the damaged collection.
Another hobby of mine was collecting old banknotes and coins. As I learned more about the market demand for these items, I became fascinated. Even the once-obscure Japanese Banana notes had gained value, regardless of whether they had serial numbers. This sparked my interest in building a collection of notes and coins.
Decades ago, there were only a few shops in Malaysia that specialized in buying and selling banknotes and coins. Today, the market has expanded significantly, with hundreds of such establishments, as old notes have become a lucrative investment. I'm excited to share some examples of the rare and valuable notes from my collection.
